I found this shell on a beach in Florida back in August of 2019. I was struck by the incredible beauty and detail of it. I picked it up, but the top was all that was there! As I took a second look, I noticed how it stood out among all the smaller, plainer shells.
This made me think of how we present ourselves sometimes as women. We can feel pressured to set ourselves apart, as more put together, especially with other women.
In our 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s we can doubt ourselves in many ways as we try to navigate life and heal through what life has thrown at us.
I want to encourage you incredible women out there. Life is not a competition, although the culture would teach that it is. God is not looking at how put together you are. He is looking at your heart. He sees the doubt and uncertainty that sometimes drives you. He sees the brokenness and He loves you completely. The pressure is off. You are safe with Him. When you know that you are safe with Him, other women will feel safe with you.
Spend time with Him. Rest in Him. Ask Him to mend those broken pieces you try to hide.
We are all broken and beautiful.

I was a small business owner for ten years-Patient Request Medical Uniforms in Daphne, Alabama-where I met many women who were beautiful, interesting, resilient, and strong. It was after I closed the business due to an illness that I began to write and that led into the story of the last ten plus years.
